Coaching Team: Jimmy Turk and Aaron Paganini

Season Dates (est.): Once a week preseason practices take place from May until July. All of preseason are taken into consideration when selecting athletes for positions on the team. The competition season runs from late August through the beginning of October. Registration must be completed and a $50 fee paid prior to participating in preseason activities.

Cost: The varsity season fee is $350-$450. The total season expenses are divided among the number of athletes on each team and an exact cost will be given when the number of athletes has been confirmed.

Game information: There are a limited number of regular season games. The bulk of the competition for the boys is at tournaments.

Tournaments: Tournaments the boys participate in are Endless Summer, in Virginia Beach; ECHN, in Hamilton Ohio beginning in 2026; VHAC, in Fredericksburg, VA; and NVIAC, a local one-day tournament. 

Team Manager: A team manager is needed each season. Duties of the team manager are:

• Sending out a weekly e-mail with important information and scheduling details

• Helping to distribute uniforms at the beginning of the season and collecting them at the end.

• Ensuring that volunteer duties (scorebook, line judges, etc.) are organized for each game.  

• Taking or recruiting someone to take some game and team photos during the season.

• Planning (or delegating) an end of season party.

Two-Adult Policy: FHS requires two adults to be present for all activities. Coaches may occasionally need a parent to stay for some practices in order to fulfill that requirement. They will notify the team prior to practice if an extra adult is needed. Parents should be willing to take a turn, if needed.

Uniforms/Equipment: Players selected for the team will need a dedicated pair of tennis shoes for court use (they don’t have to be volleyball shoes - any tennis shoe is fine) that are not worn outdoors. They should wear a separate pair of shoes to the gym (most players wear slides or Crocs because they are easy on and off) and change into their court shoes once inside the gym. Uniform shorts and a jersey will be distributed to each athlete for use during the season and must be returned at the end of the season.
